Final Project Week Five – Post Three

12-15-18

Dear Diary,

Today is Saturday! Woohoo! I can’t believe that this is my last post for my blog! This semester has gone by so very fast!

This morning I woke up at 9:10 am. It felt sooo nice to sleep in again. I love being able to sleep in after a long week. After laying in bed for another 10 minutes, looking through social media, I got up! I took a nice shower and put my makeup on. I think I may have changed my outfit five or six different times. For the christmas at lunch, at my grandparents, all of my grandpa’s siblings came over. We had a potluck lunch. There was so much food! I had ham, potatoes, jello, deviled eggs, a bun, green beans, a cookie, and a slice of blueberry pie! The food was very delicious. It was also very nice to see all of my great aunts and uncles on my grandpa’s side. Now, I am just working on some homework while everyone visits!

This afternoon/evening from 4-7 pm, I have a work Christmas party at my old work! I am so excited to see my work family. I have missed them so much! It was hard to leave them back in August to go to school. Especially when you go from seeing your coworkers every day, to not seeing them at all! This party will be so much fun!

The time came for me to go to my work christmas party! I got to the party around 4:15 pm. Not everyone had arrived yet when I got there. I visited with almost everyone. Everyone had asked me like the same question as I bounced from person to person. The questions were, “How are you?”, “How is college?”, “How is your love life?”. So I basically answered the same questions over and over again all night. After chatting with everyone, it was time to eat supper! For supper we had mexican dishes. Everyone brought a dish to share. I think all of us took a little bit of everything. There was seriously so much food. I was stuffed!! I wish I could have taken home leftovers. After supper, we all gathered together in the living room. It was time to open presents. Every year we do secret santa gifts. This year, I didn’t participate though. I honestly didn’t really have the money. But, it was fun to watch everyone open their gifts and guess who bought each other what. After the secret santa presents, our boss gave everyone a gift. This year, each of us got a “Harmony Kids Learning Center” sweatshirt. I loved it! The sweatshirt is a grey zip up hoodie, with our logo on it. Now that everyone had opened up their presents, it was time for dessert. I honestly did not think I would be able to eat dessert because I had been so full. But the desserts looked too delicious to skip them. I had decided to have a piece of cake and some puppy chow. Again, it was tasty! About thirty minutes after dessert, I headed out of the party to go home. It was so great to see all of my work family and catch up with everyone. I am so excited to work with them again over Christmas break! I have to say that today was a great day!

Final Project Week Five – Post Two

12-14-18

Dear Diary,

I woke up this morning feeling a little tired. I had woke up around 4am with a terrible nightmare, that made me yell in my sleep. Surprisingly, my roommates didn’t hear it. But, I suppose that is a good thing. I feel like I would get a lot of crap from my roommates if they heard me yell in my sleep! Anyway, I woke up for the day at 7:30 am.Usually I check my phone every morning before I get ready for school. To my surprise, I received an email from my English professor saying that class was cancelled. I was so happy to hear this because I had so many errands to do today. So I threw my hair up in a “messy” bun and put on some comfy clothes! Math had went pretty good today, I actually understood what we learned. Well, I thought I did anyway! Class had ended and I drove back to my apartment. Once I got back to my place, I tried to quickly pack for the weekend. I gathered my laundry, some homework, and my makeup. These are really the only things I ever need when I go home. After I finished packing, I quickly cleaned my room. I had to make my bed and put a few things away. Luckily, it didn’t take me too long because I was in hurry. I lugged all my crap to my car and started doing my errands around 11am. My first stop was Cub Foods, where I would need to pick up 1 of my 2 prescriptions. I had just recently transferred my prescription to go to Cub Foods from Walmart. Well, for some dumb reason, it took me over an hour to get my dang prescription. While waiting, I grocery shopped, and talked to my grandma on the phone. Eventually, I got my prescription and headed to Kohl’s. At Kohl’s, I needed to spend some Kohl’s cash. I had the big $10 of Kohl’s cash to spend today. Originally, I was on search of a long sleeve shirt to match a vest of mine at home. But, I could not find one my size. That is when I headed over to the Under Armour section where there were sales! In luck, I found a sweatshirt that I had been wanting for months! This sweatshirt had been on sale for $33 and with my Kohls cash, I only had to pay $23. That is a great deal for a Under Armour sweatshirt. After Kohl’s, I drove an hour down to Harmony where I needed to pick up my second prescription. This time, it took me 5 minutes. Eventually, I got back to my grandma’s house in the later afternoon. At around 4 pm, my grandparents and I went to go visit my favorite cousin Wyatt, his wife, an daughter. Wyatt’s daughter named Kaysia and I played with her dolls. Kaysia is 5 years old. She is so cute, I love her to pieces. We stayed at Wyatt’s house for an hour or so, and we headed off for supper. For supper, my grandparents and I went out to eat at this restaurant called “The Longbranch”. I had my typical cheeseburger and cheese curds. They are my favorite! I would have to say that today had been a pretty good day!

12-9-18

Dear Diary,

Today is Sunday! This past weekend, I had stays at my grandma’s house. This morning, I was able to sleep in until about 10am. It felt so nice. When I got out of my bed, I went to go shower. Basically just getting ready for the day. When I was finished getting ready, I packed up all of my laundry, schoolwork, groceries into my car. As I was waiting for my grandma to come home from work, I ate some cereal for lunch and I watched the show “Friends”. Eventually, my grandma got home around 1pm. When she got home, she changed out of her work clothes, so she could go to Rochester with me. The plan was to bring my grandma to Rochester, go shopping, and later on my grandpa would come up to Rochester, have supper together, and then take grandma home. THe ride up to Rochester was good. The weather was good and the roads were not bad. Once we got to Rochester, my grandma and I went to the store Kohl’s. Kohl’s is our FAVORITE store. At Kohl’s we had to find a present for my grandma’s mom, my great grandma. We also had to find some presents for my grandma’s brother-in-law, my great uncle. We ended up finding a cozy outfit for my great grandma. For my great uncle, we found some nice long-sleeve shirts. I found two nice sweaters, socks, and a some earrings. My grandma also found some things for herself as well. One of our favorite things about Kohl’s is that we can get Kohl’s Cash if we spend so much money. So today, we used up some Kohl’s Cash. After finishing up at Kohl’s, we headed over to Bed Bath and Beyond. There, we were on a hunt for my grandpa’s christmas present. For months now, my grandpa has been talking about getting a homemade ice cream machine. So, there we found a homemade ice cream machine. As we finished checking out at Bed Bath and Beyond, my grandpa called saying he was outside of the store waiting for us. When we met grandpa, we were all starving! So we decided to go to Culver’s. Culver’s is our “go to” place. I got the kid’s meal because I like to save the coupons off of the bags! After supper, we all ordered some Culver’s custard. It is the best! Later on, we headed off to the Goodwill because my grandpa was in search for a speaker. He was wanting a speaker to go into his shop on the farm. In luck, he found one! After that, I was dropped off at my car and headed back to my apartment. When I got there, I lugged all of my crap inside and unpacked in my room. That night, my roommates and I exchanged christmas gifts. It was fun to do that. I got some bath stuff, a cat face mask, a pan, a decorative sign, and two coffee mugs. I would have to say it was a pretty good day.

Final Project Week 4 – Post Three

Dear Diary,

Today is Friday morning. I had set my alarm clock for 7 am and somehow I managed to stay in bed until 7:20 am, oh well. When I got up, I went to go brush my teeth and curl my hair. I decided to part my hair down the middle today, I don’t think I am a fan of that. I think I will stick to my normal side part. When I was finished with my hair, I put on some makeup. I quickly ate some breakfast and then continued to head out the door to make it to class by 9am. I got to class a few minutes early so I quickly reviewed our “review” sheet. At 9, our class took one of our last math tests. The test previous to this one, I did not do so hot. But this test, I feel pretty confident about. I am hoping that I at least received a B on the test. I headed back to my apartment around 9:30ish. Once I was back to my apartment, I packed my weekend bag fast. My bag consisted of clothes, makeup, and my laptop. I also thought it would be smart to bring some christmas presents back to my grandparents. So, I loaded up my car with my weekend bag, dirty laundry, and presents.

I had been very excited because I didn’t have my English class friday afternoon. So what did I do? I did something productive! One of my family friends, Kristi, was looking for some help Friday afternoon. Kristi was at a homeschool event, where she did arts and crafts with children from ages 4-13 years old. My job was to assist Kristi! I had so much fun. I even learned some new things. I even got to eat lunch at the event! The best part about it was that the meals were homemade. I was very happy that I was able to volunteer. After this event, I followed Kristi to the Spring Valley, mn Community Center. At the Community Center, Kristi needed my help decorating the tree. So I helped Kristi decorate a christmas tree and spent some time with four of her kids. Around 5:30pm, I left to go to Harmony, mn. In Harmony is where I would meet my friend Kasey, at her moms house. Before I got to Kasey’s house, I needed to stop at Kwik Trip for gas. It was so cold when I was putting gas in my vehicle. A couple minutes passed and it was time to pay inside. Running inside, I see THREE of my friends from high school that were underclassmen. Their names are Collen, Evan, and Nick. It was so nice to see them and catch up with them for a few minutes! Eventually I got to Kasey’s house around 6:15pm. Tonight, Kasey and I had a girls night, which was MUCH needed. I felt like today was very productive. It was even better because I didn’t feel down at all!

Final Project Week 4 : Blog Tours

Tim’s Blog

For my second blog tour, I will be taking you to my classmate Tim’s blog page! For Tim’s final project, he has been writing fictional stories, along with Trinity. Not together, but they are both writing fictional stories. Tim has published 3 chapters for his story so far. When I first visited Tim’s page, I had felt kind of intimidated because I was not sure how I would connect with his writing! But, I was also kind of excited because I would get to read something different than what I am used to reading. I had gotten this feeling of some action stories arising. Also, from the first chapter, I had gathered that his writing was aimed more for adults. I think it was more of the profanity that had been used. Personally, when I read a book, I like some profanity in there just because it seems more realistic. So I like how Tim added those words!

Another thing that I really like about Tim’s writing was the choice of words he used. Tim uses more complex words in his work, but I liked how the words weren’t words that I didn’t know. So he uses more “adult ish” words, but doesn’t make them too hard to understand.

The last thing that I would like to share about Tim’s writing is the way he starts his chapters. The way he starts his chapters really captured my attention. In Chapter 1, his starting sentence is, “Pistol raised, I darted around the corner of a large building on the edge of town.” I felt a wave of suspense as I read the first sentence, which made me want to read more, and more! Chapter 2 starts out like this, “As the flaming apache tumbled out of the sky, I noticed a group of Cobrhan burst out of nearby stone huts.” Again, Tim succeeds at capturing my attention, again! In Chapter 3, the first sentence is, “Drawing my pistol, I scanned the fire fight, attempting to find a place to help.” Each beginning sentence starts out as an action, the pistol being raised, the flaming apache tumbled, and drawing the pistol. Tim added some great “attention getters”.

Tim, I also believe that you have a great talent for writing. I really enjoyed reading your work. I was unsure what I would think at first, but afterwards, I was glad that I was able to tour your blog! Your writing is awesome! It was cool to be able to read more of an action story – because that is outside of my comfort zone, again, it was great! I hope that you continue to write your stories and continue to publish them. Like I had said to Trinity, I would love to keep reading your work if you decide to continue publishing!

Classmates, I encourage you to visit Tim’s blog and read his work! I’m positive you will enjoy it!

Final Project Week 4 : Blog Tours

Trinity’s Blog

For my first blog tour, I will be touring Trinity’s blog! For Trinity’s final project, she is writing fictional stories. From the beginning of this semester, Trinity had been writing chapters for her book, “The Triumphants”. She has published 5 chapters for her book so far. As I write about Trinity’s blog, I will try not to spoil too much! Just because I think everyone should read the chapters of her story.

In Chapter 2, called, “Black Ash and Life” Trinity explains how the princess is not your stereotypical princess. She says the princess is more of a “warrior” princess. I love that, I feel like when there are stories about princesses, the princesses are considered “weak”. So, I really like how Trinity changed it up. It really makes her story unique.

I just have to say how much I loved reading Trinity’s writing! One of the things I really appreciated was the words she chose to use. I love how she used used different words to describe things. For example, in Chapter 3, Trinity writes, “We trek through the leafy forest”. This is a very simple sentence, but I feel like people don’t describe things as well when writing stories. But, Trinity does and AMAZING job with describing. I liked how she chose the word ‘“trek” for Violet’s journey through the forest. I also like how she described the forest as “leafy”, I just feel like no one ever describes a forest as leafy. Describing a forest as leafy is really the best way to describe a forest!

I also really like how she made her stories suspenseful, well maybe that is not the right word. But, as I finished each chapter, I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I began to become very curious! For example, in Chapter 1, Violet remembers the fairytales, pegasus, and princess stories that her dad had told her when she was younger. After violet had saw the pegasus in the woods, I had thought to myself, “Is Violet the princess!?”

Trinity, I hope that after this semester ends, you keep publishing the chapters of your book, on your page. I would love to continue reading them. You are an amazing writer! I can tell that you truly have a passion for writing. You definitely have a great talent! So again, I think you should continue to share your talent with others in the future!

I would definitely encourage my fellow classmates to hop on Trinity’s blog and read her story! Her stories are awesome! Maybe i’m biased because I love fiction stories? But if you are one who doesn’t normally read fiction, I’m sure Trinity’s stories will make you want to read fiction!  I would love to share more about Trinity’s stories in depth, but I feel like I have spoiled too much already! So, that being said – go read Trinity’s stories!

Final Project Week Three : Post Three

12-1-18

Dear Diary,

I can’t believe that today is the first day of December! I woke up feeling quite tired. I slept terribly last night. It is probably because I was not sleeping in my own bed. Yesterday morning my aunt Shannon, uncle Jason, cousins Austin, Anna, some “extended family” and I went to the Wisconsin Dells. We are staying at The Wilderness. I ended up sleeping on the uncomfortable, small couch. Did I mention I didn’t even get a pillow to sleep on? No? Well, I didn’t. Anyway, I woke up around 8:30 this morning. I was awake for maybe 20 minutes and then I fell back asleep for about 40 minutes. After I woke up, AGAIN, I had a glazed donut and a few slices of cheese for breakfast. Later, I brushed my teeth, brushed my hair, and threw on some comfy clothes. When I was finished getting ready, I decided to paint my toenails. I thought that I would paint them burgundy because I think it goes with this season. Now everyone is just hanging out in the living room watching the tv.  Pretty soon we are going to go to the pool!

The pool was so much fun! We mainly stayed in the wave pool and went on slides. The waves in the wave pool would be on about every 10 minutes. On every other wave “session” so to say, there would be little waves, and then there would be big waves. I had thought the little ones were actually big ones because everytime a wave would hit me, it would push me over. I remember thinking to myself, “Well if these are the little waves, what will the big waves be like?! I am already getting knocked over!” Eventually the big waves hit, and they washed over my aunt and I. I was kind of nervous at first because I am not the greatest swimmer, but I ended up being totally fine. After we all got out of the wave pool, we relaxed at our table near the pool. After maybe thirty minutes, my uncle and cousin Austin went back to the room. So, my aunt and I decided to go on a tube slide called the “Dueling Mammoths”. Interesting name, right? It definitely captured our attention. I think my aunt and I waited in line for about ten minutes, and then it was our turn to go. I ended up being the one sitting backwards in the tube, but I love sitting backwards on slides. Then you can’t see anything, and that thrills me. Not that I could really see in this particular slide anyway because it was so dark. The slide had lots of turns and went super fast. We had so much fun! After going on the slide a few times, the rest of my crew and I at the pool headed back to the hotel room. When we got back we all vegged in the living room. My cousin Anna and I took a nap on the couch, and the rest of my people watched tv. After I woke up from my nap, I received a devastating text from my dad. My dad had informed me that they had to put our cat Jack to sleep. Jack had been sick on and off the whole 8 years he was alive. The past two weeks in particular, Jack became very sick. My step mom rushed him to the vet and the doctors told her Jack had been suffering from severe kidney failure and some other problems. She was told that Jack wouldn’t make it through the weekend.

So, in memory of my cat, I have decided to share some of my pictures of him❤

Final Project Week Three : Post Two

11-26-18

Dear Diary,

Today was quite the early morning for me. I was meaning to go back to my apartment yesterday, but I guess I wasn’t ready to go back yet, and I didn’t wanna miss the football party. Usually I get up on a school day at 7:40ish am. Well, being that I was an hour away from my apartment, I got up at 6:40 am! I was so tired. Again, last night I was not able to fall asleep. I even tried playing my “Deep Sleep” playlist on Spotify that usually puts me to sleep and it didn’t work! I think it was maybe 2am before falling asleep. So I kind of expected to be cranky this morning when I woke up, but I wasn’t! After getting ready in less than 30 minutes time, I hit the road at about 7:10 am. To my surprise, the drive back didn’t seem that long. When I got back to my apartment, I had time to change, put my dirty laundry from this weekend, in the laundry basket, and get my books together. Somehow, I managed to get to class early! In my first class, math, we went over a worksheet we were supposed to do. The worksheet was pretty easy, but going over it took almost the whole class period. Eventually we got on to learning section 4 of chapter 6. I expected this section to be a challenge. Because usually, as you get further into a chapter, the material becomes more challenging. But, it wasn’t. I actually kind of enjoyed it. Maybe that is because I actually understood something in math class for once?! After class, my best friend Kasey and I headed back to my apartment. We had an early lunch that consisted of hot pockets and yogurt! Once we were done eating, I popped in the movie Tangled to the DVD player. Tangled is one of our absolute favorite movies. As the movie was playing, both of us did our homework. Kasey borrowed my computer to do her art and english projects. I worked on my math homework for section 4 of chapter 6. Luckily, I finished my homework and so did she later after I was done. While Kasey and I were hanging out at my apartment, I had a sudden burst of energy. I just wanted to run around. You could say that I was “bouncing off the walls”. I am not quite sure what triggered this outburst, but I liked it. I liked it because it put me in a good mood, and I was laughing. Maybe, it was the coffee I drank this morning… I usually don’t drink coffee in the morning even though I absolutely love it… Eventually it was time to go back to the school for my 1pm english class. So now, here I am typing in class because… today is a work day, yay! The rest of the day I relaxed at my apartment and did my homework.

Final Project Week Three : Post One

11-25-18

Dear Diary,

This past weekend I had stayed at my aunt Shannon and uncle Jason’s house. Saturday night, Shannon and my cousin Anna and I were up super late eating Orve’s pizza and watching Beauty and The Beast (the new one). I had never seen it before so I thought it was pretty good! I loved how Emma Watson played the part of Belle. She did amazing. After the movie, I don’t think anyone went to bed until 1 am.

Sunday morning I woke up at about 9:30-10 am to the smell of eggs and bacon. I was so excited because I almost NEVER have an actual breakfast meal. Mostly because I don’t have time in the morning to ever make breakfast. Usually the only time I have an actual breakfast meal is on Christmas eve, Christmas morning, and the day after Christmas. My grandma always makes the family breakfast then. Anyway, I go upstairs and wait until breakfast was ready. When I got my breakfast, I went to the living room to eat with my uncle. The eggs and bacon he made were scrumptious. Afterwards, breakfast was cleaned up, and for a couple hours, the five of us just sat in the living room watching football. Around 12 pm, I went to take a shower, get dressed, and put my makeup on. Once I was done, I had went upstairs to find my aunt’s best friend Shelly in the living room! Shelly is basically another aunt to me. Shelly came over to visit for a  few minutes, but those few minutes turned into two and a half hours! In those two and a half hours, Shelly, Shannon, Anna, and I watched a movie. Anna had picked out the movie called “Beautiful Creatures”, which is based on the book. Anna and Shannon had seen it before but I had not seen it before then. I like to read the book before watching the movie, but there’s not enough time in the world to do that. I really liked the movie because it kind of reminded me of the “Twilight” series. Call me crazy, but I love those movies. Which is hard for me to say because I have never even read the book series. I am actually very ashamed of that. I just HATE watching the movies before reading the books. After the movie ended, Shelly headed home to do her laundry. At 7, the Vikings were playing against the Packers… which means party at the Hoffman household! So around 6:15, guests started to show up at the house. These guests were neighbors, family friends, and family. Everyone gathered downstairs to watch the game and eat food. One of my favorite things about gatherings at the Hoffman’s, is they make chili. My aunt and uncle make the best chili. It turned out kind of awesome because two other people also brought chili over, so we had three crockpots full of chili. It was delicious! After the first quarter, my friend Natalie and I left the house to make a quick “run” to Walmart. She had a few things she needed to pick up. The one Walmart we went to in LaCrosse was very shady. It was not even 9pm, and there was barely anyone there, which is unusual for Walmart. While we were checking out in the self checkout, there were two younger workers nearby and the one guy had cat whistled at us. That is when we knew it was time to leave! On our way back to my aunt’s house, Natalie drove us past the Rotary Lights. They were so pretty. I think one weekend Natalie, Keaton, Jaden, and I are all going to go to the Rotary Lights together. We arrived back to the house close to the last quarter. The rest of the game, Natalie and I sat on the ground watching the game with everyone, screwing around, and just being our goofy selves. When Natalie and I are together, we are like two peas in pod. I love her! Natalie is basically a cousin to me.

Everyone was so ecstatic that the Vikings won against the Packers! There was lots of shouts of joy coming from everyone! Later on, after everyone left, I changed into my pajamas, washed my face, brushed my teeth, and headed for bed.

I had such a fun time at my aunts this weekend. I love being around family that actually makes an effort to be in my life, they make me happy!

Final Project Week Two : Post Three

11-22-18

“My Thanksgiving”

Last night I spent the night at my grandma’s house. I woke up at about 9:30 am feeling quite ready for the day. I love Thanksgiving, because I get to spend it with my loved ones, and I get to eat a ton of food. Sometimes, I get a good nap in too. After waking up, I showered, and put my makeup on. It took me longer to do my makeup today because I wanted to try putting on fake eyelashes. The tutorials on youtube for putting on lashes, were very helpful. But, somehow I kept screwing up or the lashes just would not stay on my eyelids. Oh well, I only kept them on for a couple hours because I could NOT stand them. Anyway, after getting fully ready, I went upstairs saying hi to everyone. At my grandma and grandpa’s Thanksgiving, one of my great aunts and two uncles showed up, as well as the neighbors across the street. After greeting everyone, we all stood in line to pile the delicious food on our plates. As we all sat down, I said grace, and we all ate. I ate turkey, green bean casserole, potatoes mixed with corn, cranberry sauce, lefse, orange fluff, and pumpkin pie. After lunch, I was surprised at how fast the dishes were done. But, everyone helped.

After this Thanksgiving, I was on my way to another Thanksgiving. My aunt Shannon invited me to come to their Thanksgiving that evening. So I packed my things, drove to Rochester to my apartment, and got some more clothes. Then, I headed over to La Crescent. I could not believe how many police and state troopers I encountered driving. After a total of about two hours, I finally got to Shannons mother’s house. I arrived just as everyone was eating. Shortly after I arrived, my friend Jaden also came. We had invited Jaden to Thanksgiving because BOTH of his Thanksgivings were cancelled today. I felt so bad. But I think he felt a lot better because he actually got to go to ours. At this Thanksgiving I had, turkey, mashed potatoes mixed with corn, a buttered bun, and green fluff. So, it was pretty much the same thing as earlier. After dinner, we all went to the basement and watched a football game. Well, “watched” because no one was actually paying attention. The kids had been playing catch with a football, the adults were chatting, my aunt, cousin and I were looking through Black Friday Ads. I didn’t find a whole lot that I had been interested in. I knew that I did have to get a few Christmas presents the next day. Maybe, I would even find a few things for myself. I love to go shopping. So, I guess you could say that I am pretty excited about Black Friday. The rest of the night I just relaxed.
